Coding and Decoding Questions Shortcuts in Reasoning Aptitude


The real alphabets in a word are replaced by other alphabets according to a specific rule to form its code.

A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5,
F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9, J=10,
K=11, L=12, M=13, N=14, O=15,
P=16, Q=17,R=18, S=19, T=20,
U=21, V=22, W=23, X=24, Y=25, Z=26

Instead of remembering all the letters, just remember the below EJOTY rule

Tip1:     E J O TY è 5 10 15 20 25

Example: If MADRS is coded as OCFTCU. How is DELHI coded in that code?
Description: Now you can see that in the above example each letter in the word MADRAS is moved TWO step forward to obtain the corresponding letter of the code. M is coded as O, A is coded as C and so on.

      Tip2:

      Likely patterns are
      +x, +x, +x, +x,… Or +x, +x, +x, +x,… where x is a number
      +1, +2, +3, +4,… Or series of even and odd numbers
